Baby it's cold outside: How to stay warm and stylish this winter

Winter outfits can be tricky to style. It’s freezing outside and you want to dress accordingly, but don’t want to get lost beneath an overwhelming amount of layers. Here are three outfits to keep you warm and stylish this winter.

Outfit 1 - Cardigan-Jumper:

This outfit includes THE trend of AW20: a Cardigan worn as a jumper. To achieve a winter flair, I wear a clean, snowy white cardigan from Hollister. Style the cardigan with a trusty pair of chunky books and blue or grey skinny jeans. I’m wearing the 721 Levi’s high-rise skinny jeans in ‘light indigo’. Top off the outfit with a warm coat and you’re good to go. My go-to coats are the Pepe Jeans colour-blocking puffer jacket – another 2020 trend – and a simple, khaki coat.

Outfit 2 - Skirt:

Are you avoiding wearing skirts with classic see-through black tights because it’s too cold outside? Fear not, here’s my tip: wear a pair of warm nude tights beneath your sheer black ones. Not only will you be warm all day, but you’ll be able to wear your cute autumn skirts – and who doesn’t love that look?

I like to combine different materials whenever possible. Leather or cord skirts, especially in muted colours like dark green or black, are my favourites. Cropped jumpers go well with high-waisted skirts, like the Hollister one I’m wearing. It’s extremely fluffy so a light coat (or, in my case, no coat at all) will be enough for a quick walk. After topping the trends last season, textured jumpers have remained just as popular. A little tip: H&M are selling them for around £15 at the moment. What a bargain.

Outfit 3 - Oversized Blazer:

For my third winter favourite, I’ve opted for an oversized, dogtooth blazer with a basic white shirt underneath. Blazers are a timeless classic and we can’t get enough of dogtooth this winter.

Colour-blocking is big this year. To pull off a classic, monotone version of this trend, I’m wearing my blazer and shirt with black pants and white boots. The snake skin pattern and trapezoid-shaped heels of the boots make them an eye-catcher. Whichever kind of boots you choose, throw a blazer and an underlayer on and you’re well on your way.

As 2020 draws to a close, leave this year behind in style. Whichever trend is your favourite, we know you can pull it off. Wear it with confidence and you’re guaranteed to stand out in a crowd.
