Back to uni 5 minute makeup for those early mornings

Updated: Oct 1, 2021

For a pretty, yet natural makeup that slays in every lecture hall, you only need four products and less than five minutes. What are you waiting for? On the brushes, ready, go!

Don’t we all know it: You’re waking up late and only have a few spare minutes before leaving for uni. In order to hide the signs from last night’s party or Netflix binge from your course mates, here’s a quick every day makeup routine that'll leave your face looking awake and with a newfound glow.

First off is Concealer – since the Sheffield hills usually make me sweat most of my foundation off, I now opt for some concealer instead of a fuller coverage. Apply some concealer that’s one shade lighter than your skin tone under your eyes, on the inside of your nose and on any redness you wish to hide. Blend the edges with a sponge and you’re good to go! My favourite concealer that doesn’t break the bank and is perfect on the go is the Maybelline 'Instant Anti-Age Eraser' concealer stick.

The only makeup I never leave the house without is tinted eyebrow gel. It tidies up the mess your bedsheets left behind and fills any gaps there may be in your brows. Additionally, it only takes about five seconds to apply. Amongst my favourites is the Essence 'Make Me Brow' eyebrow gel, which is the affordable equivalent to Benefit’s iconic 'Gimme Brow'.

Next is mascara – my current number one is the Maybelline 'Sky High' mascara. Most days I go for the waterproof version, as you never know when Sheffield will bless you with some rain or you need a good cry after an intense lecture. A top tip for blue and green eyes: get yourself a brown mascara to make your eyes pop even more. My favourite is by YSL, but you can achieve the look with the affordable 'Paradise' mascara from L’Oreal.

Last but certainly not least are lips. For a toned back, yet lush-looking lip, I love the chubby sticks from Clinique – especially in the colours 'Boldest Bronze' and 'Mega Melon'. The former, a shimmering rosé bronze, and the latter, a peachy pink, are perfect to add a little pop of colour to your face.

Hopefully these tips come in handy with lectures starting again this week – especially since most of the products can be applied while walking. Have fun trying this super easy look!
