As the temperature plummets, our wardrobes begin to incorporate a range of neutrals whilst welcoming the warmth of brown. However, this has not always been the case. Previously, the fashion industry favoured the monochrome trend during the colder months, but brown is now everywhere. From high street to high end brands integrating a splash of brown across their new ranges this season, we can't escape it.
Brown is both unique and diverse, yet calm and collected. The elegance of this neutral tone allows for easy pairings with a wide range of colours, appealing to both men and women. Social media has influenced the popularity of this tone as Pinterest boards and Instagram highlights are encompassed with a tsunami of brown hues.
But the question is, how can we style brown? The colour compliments every skin colour and body type, encouraging body positivity and confidence for all. Tonal outfits are possible by piecing a caramel, coffee-like tone with a deeper chocolate shade, which is “a great way to look fashionable without trying too hard” says celebrity stylist Harriet Byczok. Or, how about pairing an even darker brown with a lighter tone, like white or beige, to achieve a contrasted, on-trend look?
Its versatility is impeccable. From reddish undertones to deeper earthy shades, it's a wardrobe must-have this winter. If you’ve recently hopped onto this trend but are struggling to put your finger on what goes best with your new pieces, begin by adding neutrals to create an effortlessly chic look. A basic outfit has a lot of potential when matched with gold jewellery and small saddle bag. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone by adding a bit of spice to your wardrobe this season.
