Fashion Forecast: Top Trends for Autumn-Winter 2023

As the leaves change and the temperature drops, fashionistas everywhere eagerly anticipate the autumn-winter season to take on the latest trends gracing the runways.

From our new favourite colour to season classics, let's dive into the key trends for the upcoming season - inspired by top designers.

Red Alert

Move over pink, it’s about to get red hot this season.

Designer brands like Sandy Liang, Stella McCartney, Bottega Veneta, The Row, Victoria Beckham, David Koma, Di Petsa, Eudon Choi, Alexander McQueen, Prada, and Christopher Kane all cemented the colour of the season in their collections.

After a tomato girl summer, it seems we’re officially over subdued tones when it comes to making a statement.

Proving that this colour will dominate the fashion landscape, the only question left is how to style it? We’re opting for pops of reds in the details. Think bags, shoes, nails and socks.

Sheer Layers

This autumn, get ready to embrace sheer materials in various forms, from moody skirts to comfy long sleeve tees.

Spotted at Gucci, Miu Miu, 16Arlington, Bottega Veneta, Erdem, Fendi, Coach, Molly Goddard, Moschino, and others - designers bave taken sheer to new heights, making it a staple for transitional weather looks.

While some styling this as a ‘bare all’ look, mesh also works perfectly for a pop of detail under your dress or sweater vest. Trendy and an extra layer of warmth!

Longline Coats

Quiet luxury hasn’t gone away just yet, as simplicity meets sophistication in this trend. A long black coat is not only one of the most wearable trends of the season but also an outerwear statement for autumn.

Although this isn’t new information, a long black or beige coat is your timeless investment. Spotted at Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, and Chanel, there’s never been more reason to keep it cosy this winter.

Valentino and Ferragamo offer office-ready interpretations, while Coach and Givenchy show us the power of a turtleneck-coat combo.

Metallics

Perfect for the party season, metallic dresses and matching silver bags and shoes are giving sci-fi and stylish.

Spotted at Gucci, Simone Rocha, Paco Rabanne, 16Arlington, Valentino, and Coperni, it's not just about shimmer this season but rather details of cool toned silver sparkle.

Scarf Season

From snappy tailoring at The Row to evening gowns at Giorgio Armani, scarves have become a versatile accessory for every occasion.

Whether you prefer a one colour look or want to add a touch of flair with a funky pattern (we recommend plaid a la Westwood), scarves are here to stay - and, again, are practical! Spotted at Michael Kors, Saint Laurent, Burberry, Marni, Stella McCartney, and Louis Vuitton, expect to see oversized scarfs taking over.

Corporate Attire

Workplace staples take a fashionable twist. White shirts take center stage, with designers like Valentino, Prada, and Bottega Veneta reimagining them in various styles, from long and lean to boyish with chic miniskirts.

While extra-long pussy-bow blouses takeover at Givenchy, a classic shirt and tie combo is back as a catwalk staple at Dior, Valentino, and Alexander McQueen.

As for office patterns, pinstripes were at the forefront at Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton.

Leather Jackets

When the temperature drops, nothing beats a classic leather jacket. But this season, elevate your leather look with coordinated sets, as seen at Brandon Maxwell and Coach.

Leather blazers are also an easy way to incorporate your pops of colour - when shopping, think cherry red or dusky brown.
