Festive makeup inspired by your favourite festive movies

Here is some makeup inspiration from all your favourite Christmas movies.

1. The Holiday

With the current climate of coronavirus and the change in how Christmas is going to be celebrated this year, ‘The Holiday’ provides the perfect makeup look for a more homely Christmas. The big trend of glass skin is definitely one to follow to get this fresh, dewy look. Focusing on skin care and providing the perfect base for foundation is a must to achieving that air bushed makeup and, perfectly primed skin, glossy lips and highlighter completes this staple look.

My product recommendations:

CeraVe moisturiser, IT cosmetics CC cream ‘Your Skin But Better’, Fenty Beauty ‘Gloss bomb’

2. Last Christmas

Is there anything more classic for the Christmas season than red lips paired with winged eyeliner? An absolute perfect look for over the holiday season; this film contains so many important makeup moments, from the glossy red lips to smoky eyes, perfect for throughout the festive season. Red lips can seem daunting for the rest of the year but there is something about Christmas that always draws me to this look. With the holidays especially being about the food, getting a liquid lipstick and lip liner that lasts is a must. The sultry silver smoky eye is perfect for late night Christmas festivities and this look particularly pairs well with Emilia Clarke’s brown eye; but this look compliments all those looking to make a statement.

My product recommendations:

Fenty Beauty ‘Stunna’ lipstick, Rimmel ‘Exaggerate’ liquid eyeliner, Urban Decay ‘Smoky’ palette

3. The Grinch

Kylie Cosmetics most recent collaboration comes as inspiration for a look inspired by this this festive film. Her recent collaboration with ‘The Grinch’ consists of green eyeshadows, lots of glitter, a classic red lip kit and many more products. Green often is perceived as a colour to stay away from when it comes to makeup, particularly the lighter green that the Grinch is, but the palettes in this collection has definitely inspired me to be more creative with my festive makeup, rather than sticking with the traditional red.

My product recommendations:

Huda Beauty ‘Emerald obsessions’ palette

4. Love Actually

Another film which features a smoky eye look for the Christmas season with Juliet’s wedding look, but what stands out more is the simple yet elevated updo. This look of soft tousled waves framing the face with a simple bun has really inspired me to rethink simple updos with different hair accessories. From simple clips with stars to the more elaborate feathers, this is perfectly paired with a smoky eye and nude lip to balance out the look. This versatile look will help you to transition throughout the holiday season from Christmas to New Years.

My product recommendations:

Charlotte Tilbury ‘The Rock Chick’ palette, Accessorize ‘Crystal Gem’ hair slides
