Health and Beauty Tips for the New Year

Everybody is beautiful: every shape is shapely, all eyes are sparkly, your hair is never too frizzy, and you are always more than enough. That said, we all like to feel our best. Beautifying ourselves is a form of self-care, so here are my ‘three Cs’ to get you looking like the best version of yourself as you enter 2021.

1. Consistency

The last ten months have been a period of endurance and patience, and it’s time to apply those new-found skills to your appearance. Consistently maintained routines are the backbone of beauty:

- If you have a skincare routine that works, stick to it! Make it a positive point of your day, which you can look forward to. I suggest making a playlist of your favourite tracks and playing them whenever you perform your routine to motivate you.

- I recommend adopting a haircare routine, a simple coconut oil hair mask, and argan oil to rub in after washing.

- You also want to be consistently looking after your body. Drink water, eat three meals a day, sleep eight hours each night, and get regular fresh air. Keeping your body happy and healthy, means clearer skin, nourished nails and thicker hair.

2. Care

Be kind to yourself and take time to make yourself feel good! A cared-for person is a beautiful person, and you deserve to feel that way. Self-care may consist of doing your hair each morning, choosing your outfit the night before, or even just painting your nails every fortnight.

3. Confidence

No one noticed that your nose isn’t quite straight?

In the kindest way possible, everyone has bigger concerns than your perceived imperfections. So, if no one else cares, Why do you?!

The best moments of your life are often the ones where you feel confident. Your imperfections are imperfections because you’ve called them that. Your body works hard to keep you alive and healthy, so it doesn’t deserve to be called imperfect by anyone, especially by you. If you are struggling with a specific feature, try practicing gratitude towards it: Instead of saying ‘my nose isn’t straight’, say ‘my nose allows me to breathe, and I’m pretty grateful for that!’

Own your appearance, go out and show the world that you are confident in your own skin. That will turn more heads than any make-up, outfit, or ‘natural beauty’ ever will.
