The next month is going to be difficult for us all, which is why it’s important to take some time out and spend your days peacefully. Whether that means having a self-care evening doing an array of your favourite things, or going for a walk in the brisk, fresh air. Make this time as enjoyable as it can be.
Ensure you go for your daily walk
During the first lockdown, we realised how beneficial exercise really is. Although it’s enjoyable to go on walks with people from your household, why not use this as your ‘me time’? Collect your thoughts, appreciate what’s around you and recentre your focus to what’s really important. It’s easy to get caught up in your negative thoughts and emotions, so take a little while to identify how you feel and decide how you can rectify it.
Spend one evening a week doing your favourite things
There’s nothing better than spending an evening doing your favourite things, especially when your life revolves around work and your studies. We always neglect our hobbies and interests, which truly make us happy, when we are juggling other aspects of our lives. Don’t be that person anymore. Remember: it’s not the end of the world if you complete a task tomorrow morning rather than tonight. You can sacrifice your work, but you shouldn’t sacrifice your mental health and wellbeing.
Detach from technology
I get it - this is a lot easier said than done. Social media and the news can be extremely overwhelming and sometimes you have to detach from it if you’re trying to keep your sanity intact. However, if you don’t want to completely switch off your phone, use it in ways that’ll have a positive impact on your day. Watch that YouTube video you’ve been meaning to watch for weeks, scroll on TikTok or pin posts to your mood boards on Pinterest – do whatever makes you happy and will inspire you to make today a good day.
Even if you try just one of these things, it’s guaranteed to make your day more peaceful. How you deal with this second lockdown depends on your mindset and how you approach it. If you view it as time to work on yourself and make progress in some aspect of your life, while also giving yourself time to relax, you’ll reap the benefits.
