How to style chunky boots

It is undeniable that chunky boots are the most popular shoe this season. Thanks to Prada’s sell out Monolith boots, they have been all over our Instagram feeds. From lace up combats to chelsea boots, they come in all sorts of colours and styles. The durability of chunky boots make them perfect if you are looking to invest in a shoe you can wear for years to come.

The Prada boots are a hefty £1,220, but an almost identical design can be found on Public Desire for a more affordable £39.99. These boots are a nod to the 90s platforms but with a daring, modern twist.

It is surprising how versatile chunky boots can be. They can be paired with ultra-feminine dresses and mini skirts, or with a chunky knit jumper and leather trousers for an edgier look.

Sweater vests are a major trend this year. They can be styled with a white shirt underneath with either a short skirt or jeans, and a pair of chunky boots will add the finishing touch.

For a transitional autumnal outfit, you could pair your boots with a knitted sweater dress, tights and a leather jacket. Sounds like the perfect outfit for those days when it is not freezing yet you want to keep cosy.

Doc Martens are a staple which fit perfectly in anyone’s wardrobe due to their practicality. They can be paired with a statement dress to contrast grunge with girly. For a dressier night out, a mini dress and a blazer are the way to go. If you are looking for a boot that you can be assured will never go out of style, then these are the boots for you.

If you are not feeling daring enough to wear something too chunky, chelsea boots with a platform sole are a simple way to ease yourself into the trend. You can achieve a wintery look by styling them with straight leg denim jeans, a knitted sweater and a comfy teddy coat.
