The end is in sight. The countdown has begun. Yes, normality is just around the corner (hopefully). Having been confined to the same old stomping ground for the past year, everyone is ready to dig out their passports and get globetrotting. Here are just 3 of my top destinations to check out!
1. Budapest
The Hungarian capital has gained a bit of reputation as the go-to spot for students. Though you’ve probably seen it on everyones insta, don’t rule it off the list too quickly.
Not only is the city full of history, beautiful architecture and stunning views, it’s also one of the cheapest places to visit in Europe. Offering hundreds of hostels and hotels that won’t break the bank but will deliver the fun, it is an amazing place to visit with a big group of friends. When in Budapest there are two attractions that are a definite must; the thermal baths and the ruin bars.
2. Dubrovnik
If sun is what you’re craving this summer, then Dubrovnik, Croatia could be the perfect destination. Not only does Croatia offer sun, sea and sand, there is also plenty to do. The city of Dubrovnik dates back to the seventh century and is now a UNESCO world heritage site. However, this is not just one for the history lovers. TV and film fans flood the city every year to check out the locations where Game of Thrones was filmed. Alternatively you could head up the coast towards Split for a bit of island hopping. (Check out the island Vis where Mamma Mia 2 was filmed.)
3. Hoi An
For the more adventurous soul, Vietnam could be the perfect place to visit. Though it is often thought of as just another ‘gap yah’ destination, Vietnam is a country full of history, with an amazingly rich culture that you can’t help but fall in love with. Of course, this a more pricey option, but once planes have been accounted for, travelling in Vietnam itself is ridiculously cheap. I have picked the city of Hoi An specifically, as it is another UNESCO world heritage site, built over canals, famous for its Lantern festival. The city is famous for its immaculate tailoring, so be sure to go with some designs you would like to be made up for a reasonable price.
