Lounge Boob Box: why it was more than just free underwear

Updated: Oct 8, 2023

A few weeks ago, the Lounge Boob Box visited the Uni of Sheffield, giving away free underwear for breast cancer awareness for it’s #FeelYourBreast campaign. The queue was long but was pretty quick moving and a free pair of lounge underwear is always a massive bonus.

Jess Oldnall, partnerships intern at Lounge, said: “I started in September, and it’s been the most amazing experience so far. It’s been a campaign like no other and we can’t thank everyone enough for the support.”

October marked Breast Cancer Awareness month. Lounge’s amazing campaign this year has been the ‘Boob Box’, which is essentially the #FeelYourBreast campaign on a tour around UK universities, getting students up to speed on all things boob-checking.

On 3rd October, 65,000 pink underwear sets went live on the site to buy for £10, also allowing customers to donate money, with 50% of profits going to 6 chosen charities.

So why is it important to check your boobs?

Checking boobs is important because you need to look out for any changes! All boobs are different and so getting to know what they feel like, and whether anything is different, can enable you to catch anything that might concern you early.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide and represents 25.4% of all cancers in women. But it is also one of the most treatable and the earlier it's picked up, the better the outcome.

Try and check at the same time every month, but when you’re not on your period. Check for changes in your breasts, such as recent dimples, being inflamed, any rashes.

You can sign up here for a monthly reminder from breast cancer UK to check your boobs!
