On Saturday, 10th December, Capital FM hosted their annual Jingle Bell Ball at the O2 Arena in London. The show often gains a lot of attention for lineups, which always include a variety of household names.
Last year, Jesy Nelson went viral on social media with the singer, unfortunately, trolled for her performance. Many famous acts have performed in the show over the years, including Lady Gaga, One Direction, and Rhianna.
This year was no different. The lineup included Lewis Capaldi, Sam Smith, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Becky Hill, Aitch and Stormzy.
The stand-out performer is undeniably Stormzy. Following the release of his third studio album this year, the rapper closed the show with a set list of eight songs. The best of his setlist had to be ‘Firebabe’, as part of which he was joined on stage by Debbie (Debbie Ehirim).
The next best performer of the night was Dua Lipa her setlist included an array of well-known hits, including ‘Physical’, ‘One Kiss’ and ‘Don’t Start Now’. She kicked off the Ball with a handful of her hits. Dua also responded to rumours that she and Stormzy are planning to collab on a new song in an interview with Roman Kemp. The singer seemed really keen to work with the rapper, so we could expect another hit in future.
Another surprise was when Sigala surprised the audience with a song from Eurovision Song Contest runner-up, Sam Ryder. Sam Ryder wowed the audience with his Jingle Bell Ball debut, singing their hit song ‘Living Without You’.
The 16,000-strong crowd at the O2 definitely enjoyed this year's line-up. It seems that the Ball has once again lived up to people’s expectations and should do for many years to come.
