Testing Tik Tok's Viral Mascara

I managed to get my hands on what is probably one of the most talked about mascaras this year, and I cannot wait to try it out.

Massively reviewed and raved about on Tik Tok (it’s forever on my ‘for you’ page, it’s been taunting me for weeks), the Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High mascara has gone completely viral. It’s not hard to see why- if my lashes end up looking as good as the guys who have been trying it out on Tik Tok I’ll be over the moon. I do happen to be in a deeply committed relationship with my Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara, however, so it’ll be interesting to see how it matches up.

When I first saw the mascara, I thought that the packaging looked quite similar actually to the Better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced, with that pinky metallic packaging. However, I think out of the two I do prefer the Sky High mascara’s packaging because of its cool 3D writing and design, plus it’s a lot more lightweight to hold. The wand applicator is a ‘tower brush’, according to the product description, and it has a £9.99 price tag.

Brushing upwards from the bottom of my lashes to the top, the mascara’s wand design grabs each lash individually and curls each lash finely, leaving you with a wispy finish. I don’t mind this finish, I just usually prefer something thicker and darker. I will say that, before applying your next coats, I would wait a little while as it is quite a wet formula and doesn’t build easily unless slightly dry.

I then applied a third and fourth coat. I really don’t think you need a fourth coat, as it runs the risk of getting slightly clumpy (which one of my eyes did), but three coats leaves your lashes looking SENSATIONAL. The mascara provide some serious length, trust me; they were basically tickling my eyebrows after the third coat.

Final thoughts? I can understand why it’s gone viral. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the very wet formula and I don’t mind the finish of the mascara, as it still made my lashes look amazing, but I wouldn’t say that it’s my favourite mascara I’ve ever tried. It definitely grew on me the more I used it however, and if you do manage to get your hands on one it’s definitely worth trying out, especially for that price tag.
