The best outfits of Bridgerton season 2

Updated: May 31, 2022

With the enemies to lovers trope of our dreams, Season 2 of Bridgerton was everything I could have hoped for and more. But as well as its storyline, this season also smashed it in the outfit department. Once again, the show has had an influence on fashion, with the sales of floral dresses and silk gloves going up. More than 700 costumes were created this season by designer Sophie Canale and here’s a round-up of the best looks of the season.

1. Kate’s final orange dress

Kate’s final dress of the season has to be my favourite. It’s different to the other dresses she has worn which were mainly deeper colours such as teals and purples. The orange is bright and colourful, showing that Kate is finally happy and is doing something for herself. As she opens up and begins showing her emotions, her outfits get more delicate and colourful, ending with this beautiful orange gown accompanied by a gold tiara headpiece.

2. Edwina’s pink gown

Throughout the series, Edwina’s outfits have always been slightly different to Kates's. They have softer and more delicate lacing and are often pastel colours to show her innocence and youth. The pale-pink flower embroidered gown she wore in episode 2 was stunning. These dresses really help her stand out as the season’s diamond.

3. Kate’s riding habit

I’m obsessed with Kate’s blue hunting outfit. This was a standout outfit from the series as it portrays Kate’s strength as a character. She’s a mother figure to her younger sister and is always putting her before herself. This outfit really showcases that. The deep teal colour also pays homage to her Indian heritage.

4. Queen Charlotte’s heart-shaped wig

Although most of Queen Charlotte’s outfits aren’t really my thing, you have to admire the presence they create. As she walks in wearing a regal white and gold pale dress, with accessories and ruffles coming from every angle, alongside a gigantic heart-shaped and jewel-encrusted wig, you can’t help but stare. It really sums up the lavishness and extravagance of the show, even if it is a bit ridiculous.

5. Penelope’s yellow beaded gown

For the most part, I’m not a fan of the Featherington’s citrus toned outfits, which is an opinion most people share. However, I love Penelope's devotion to the colour yellow. The creative connotations of the colour yellow could even be a nod to Pen’s secret identity. Her jewelled yellow dress she wears in the final few episodes is actually kind of cute, and definitely unique.
