We can all agree that 2020 has not been the year we expected. For fashion, these unprecedented times have contributed to a major shift away from high street fashion and towards the ethos ‘comfort is king’. Though this may provoke thoughts of pyjamas and all things oversized, there are countless ways to adapt your wardrobe to suit working from home without sacrificing your personal style.
Firstly, remember that loose fitting does not necessarily mean shapeless. Now that autumn is upon us, knitwear and layering are back - try pairing a cosy jumper with some wide leg jeans or flares. Both items are on trend this season and give you the freedom to move, whilst also working to accentuate your figure.
Another way to elevate existing outfits is to delve into the realm of accessories. Layering some necklaces, or even just putting in some earrings, has the ability to make any outfit look purposefully paired. You never know, it could even spark some compliments on your zoom calls.
Why not explore the alternative side of loungewear? Opting for sports clothing, such as gym leggings or cycling shorts, is another perfect way to keep up with the trends without restricting your body. A matching leggings and sports bra co-ord will make you feel put together and may also encourage you to do a quick home workout - what is not to love?
Being in your own home offers you freedom; there is no dress code for the living room. This is a great opportunity to dive into the depths of your wardrobe and experiment with what you already own. Now is the time to wear the dress you have been saving for the ‘right opportunity’. You have to create the opportunity, not wait for it to come around. Try layering, DIYing, injecting some colour, or even print clashing if that is your cup of tea. Use working from home as a time to embrace your style without the fear of others’ judgement.
